Upcoming BioBlitzes

The yearly Ontario BioBlitz is coming up on June 11th - 12th.

For those unfamiliar, here's an excerpt from their "About Us" page:

A BioBlitz brings together taxonomic experts, citizen scientists and the general public to inventory all species (plants, animals, fungi and more) in a particular area over a  24 hour period.  Participants record all the organisms they find, then experts verify their identity. As the Blitz proceeds and after it is done, the species records are compiled into a single data set: the species list, which provides a snapshot of the biodiversity in that location on that date.

The main mushroom hunting will happen on the morning of the 11th.

Additionally, Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust is asking for volunteers for 2 May bioblitzes in York and Durham:

1. Friday May 13th to Saturday May 14th at the Durham East Cross Forest Conservation Area, 4560 Devitts Road, Scugog

2. Noon Friday May 27th until noon Saturday May 28th, McLeod Woods at approximately 15776 Leslie St. in Aurora, just south of St. Johns Sideroad
