New this Fall: Myco Camp
Registration is now open for the MST’s first ever Myco Camp!
September 6th – 8th in Grafton, near Cobourg Ontario
Myco Camp is a budget-friendly, back-to-basics camping weekend for adults and youth aged 13 and up. Learn with others and sharpen your mushroom ID skills before the fall season!
For 2024, Myco Camp will be held at a Scout camp which has an excellent 100 acre forest, fantastic for mushrooming!
Myco Camp participants will work together in collaborative fashion to identify and record species found during the weekend. All the mushrooms are within walking distance - no driving to forays!
This weekend will be run as a low-impact, co-operative experience. All participants will help with setup, meals, and cleanup throughout the event. Accommodations are in shared bunk rooms, and washroom facilities are shared.
Myco Camp includes:
- Two nights accommodations
- Access to the camp's forest throughout the weekend
- Friday night barbecue
- Saturday and Sunday continental-style breakfast
- Saturday lunch, dinner, and Sunday lunch
- Evening bonfires

No car? No problem!
All the mushrooms at Myco Camp are on-site - no need to drive to the foray locations.
Don't want to drive at all? Myco Camp volunteers will be making a limited number of pickups at Cobourg Via Rail station on Friday evening, and a limited number of dropoffs on Sunday.

Who can attend Myco Camp?
Myco Camp is an intermediate-level event which requires some knowledge about mycology and how to begin identifying species. If you have no experience identifying mushrooms you will find it difficult to participate in Myco Camp.
Participation at Myco Camp is limited to MST members 13 and up who are eligible to attend Introduction to Field Identification walks and Intermediate Field Identification forays.
