Tim Myles: Hi John, I've heard the name, White Morel and Morchella deliciosa applied to this variant. Note sure this is a valid name or species though.
 
Carl de Boer: Morchella deliciosa is a name reserved for a european species of morel that is apparently not the same as that found here. I understand that we have many distinct species of morel in canada, but I only ever hear them referred to as "M. elata" or "M. esculenta".
