Taste: unpleasantly bitter. Cap: rounded, thick, dry, thinning towards the outer edge, rolled inwards; olive gray, brown or pale yellow up to 0.007 wide. Tubes lemon yellow with yellow/green edges. Stem yellow often with reddish dots near the bottom, near the ground spreading root like, hairy, lemon yellow. Flesh is whitish, soft, when broken it quickly turns dark blue. Fall, in beech and oak woods.
