2019 Spring Foray Schedule

All forays meet at 9:45 a.m. Please arrive early.

These forays will focus on collecting and identifying common mushrooms and other fungi, including some common edible species. Leaders will direct you to the foray location and help you with the identification of common species, but they are not necessarily experts.

We often need volunteers to lead and co-lead some forays. Without the help of the members these forays may not happen. You don't need experience or strong field identification skills, just a commitment to being present and keeping the foray organized. Please help! Email the foray director at foraydirector@myctor.org and let us know which forays you can help with.

MST members whose membership dues are up to date will also receive the foray schedule by email - check your spam or junk mail folders. The event calendar also lists forays.

Please contact foraydirector@myctor.org with any questions. Information on how to prepare for forays can be found on the Foray Etiquette and Preparation page.

Not seeing driving directions to the forays?

Driving directions are available to MST members who are signed in to the website.

If you can't remember your password, please click here to request a password reset. Enter the email address we have on record for your membership and you'll receive a link by email to reset your password (don't forget to check your spam or junk mail folder if you don't see the email).

MST members who joined prior to May 25th, 2018 may also sign in with their MST website username. If you have a username and can't remember it, please either sign in using your email address or click here to retrieve your username by email.

Does the MST provide transportation to forays?

The MST is unable to provide transportation to forays. Members are responsible for arranging their own transportation. Many members choose to car-pool to share costs. There is often an active car-pooling discussion in the Forays message board, available to members who are signed in to the website.

Can I attend a foray to try it out before I join?

Unfortunately the permits we have with the various properties which host our forays require the MST to provide insurance coverage for all foray attendees. Only MST members are covered by our group insurance policy, and so only only MST members in good standing can attend forays.

Foray & Etiquette Notes

Our scheduled spring forays usually take place from early May to the beginning of June, and fall forays from early September to the end of October. The complete schedule of forays, with directions to meeting places, is emailed to members in April or August, and is available online on the foray schedule page.

All foray participants meet by 9:45 am, then head for the foray location. Forays end at about 12:30 — 1:30 pm or later, if you wish to stay for further identification of fungi. Forays are always held rain or shine. Since we may drive some distance from the meeting place to the foray location, please be on time to avoid the disappointment of missing the group. More detailed information is available on how to prepare for forays.

Please note that the MST does not provide transportation to the forays! Members are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
