This is a group of wood-rot fungi that provide an interesting study in how an organism can simplify its morphology to best suit its environment. Come to this meeting. Description: Dr. Hutchison’s presentation is on the hypogeous fungi more commonly known as truffles and false truffles. He will discuss the symbiotic relationship between hypogeous fungi and the roots of forest trees that forms the ectomycorrhizae and the role of the ectomycorrhizae in protecting forests.
