In Search of the Holey Veil
This video is based on a real-life treasure hunt and documentary of Taylor Lockwood's search for beautiful and exotic mushrooms.
It is centered on a three month trip to India, Nepal, China, and Thailand where he found many beautiful species that are now featured in this program.
Also included are trailers of other Taylor Lockwood videos as well as a short behind-the-scenes special on "How the 'Holey Veil' was made" and out-takes.
This video also employs Taylor's typical "artistic license" with illustrations, music, animations, and supporting scenes.
Program length: approx. 55 min.
Monday, March 19, 2018 7:00 p.m.
Speaker: Larry Millman
Presentation: The Psychro Ward
As with northern First Nations peoples, certain fungi have evolved ways to survive in cold conditions. In this presentation, Dr. Lawrence Millman will introduce you to these psychrophiles (psychrophile = cold adapted) and discuss the various ways they deal with temperatures that would dispatch other fungi to their Maker. As the subject is not studied a great deal by mycologists, some of this presentation will be speculative.
